In the summer of 1988, 7 years after the last mass execution, an unknown number of Iranian political prisoners were martyred by the direct order of the Supreme leader Khomeini.

The estimates are as high as 30,000.

She is to be returned to Iran on August 23rd where it is very likely that she will be imprisoned immediately and face execution.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guards celebrate the anniversary of their establishment, with their beloved child, Hezbollah.

It was only this time last year when the ignorant Stop the War crowd were chanting “We are All Hezbollah!” in the streets of London. Lets hope it will not happen again. Well, unless you are a supporter of mass executions, suicide bombings and depriving millions of Iranians from their oil money, so a few more Jews gets killed, and Middle East becomes more unstable, devastated and of course, fundamentalist.

This year several student activists will spend this year’s anniversary in prisons. They include: Mohammad Hashemi, Ali Nikoonesbati, Ali Vefghi, Bahareh Hedayat, Mehdi Arabshahi, Hanif Yazdani, Abodllah Momeni, Bahram Fayyazi, Habib Hajiheydari, Morteza Eslahchi, Mojtaba Bayat,, Arash Khandel, Ashkan Ghiasvand, Ahmad Ghassaban, Majid Tavakoli, Ehsan Mansouri, and Amir Yaghoub-ali.

Interestingly the Islamic Republic propaganda outlet Press TV which did not cover the petrol rationing crisis or the 18 tir anniversary events, has covered this news but doesn’t even mention why the airline is suspended and only says Mahan is trying to reopen it’s flights!

Saeed Derakhshan, Keyvan Ansari and Abolfazl Jahandar have joined the other three student activists Majid Tavakoli, Ahmad Ghassaban and Ehsan Mansouri who have been on hunger strike since last Saturday after two months and a half spent in Evin with no access to a lawyer or court hearing.
