Popular anti-war Labour MP Clare Short promoting the documentary
I just heard the great news that the undercover documentary Execution of a teenage girl produced by Arash Sahami (left in the picture) won the television documentary award at the Amnesty International Media Awards tonight. Arash Sahami and his team risked their lives by going undercover in Iran to capture the story of this little girl and the tragic end to her life..
The Observer (July, 2006) described the documentary as:
An almost impossible to watch documentary about the life of Atefeh Sahaaleh. a 16-year-old girl who was hanged in a public square in Iran in 2004 after being charged with ‘crimes against chastity’. Using eyewitness accounts, reconstructions and undercover footage, the programme slowly recreates Atefeh’s life and shows why the same life was brutally extinguished. At times you really just want to look away from the screen unable to believe this is happening - but don’t, because this truly is one of the best documentaries of the year and one of the most important

Excelent city boy. You’re awesome!!
Credit also goes to our friend Azarmehr for doing this!
Why go all the way to Iran when we know the exact same thing occurs in Great Britain? Wherein their Muslim community asks the government to ignore these murders… This is the measure of a community that does not openly and loudly denounce terrorism or these “accepted” killings.
AND what language is the first response post in and why is it still up?
Dear Mr Arash Sahimi Great work we are so proud of you and your excellency of your work congradullations to you, the facist islamic republic of iran ahmadinejad and their mollahs are faccist and the most cruelest monsters on earth we will bring them to justice, god bless you. Tirdad Gharib.please fell free to contact me.
Great work Dude. I read these e-mails and often pass them on. I have continuously advocated attacking Iran to punish Iran for the terrorism it supports in the whole world….now I realize that many Iranis are on our side. Thank you for opening my eyes. Death to Islam. Death to the mullahs!
Show Must Go On

According to IRNA, the official Islamic Republic news agency, the national Police chief has implicitly verified the news about the confiscation of a number of squirrels, equipped with eavesdropping devices, on the Iranian borders. He has declined to give any more details, but, reportedly, when asked about the confiscation of 14 spy squirrels, he stated, “I have heard about it, but I do not have precise informationâ€. IRNA adds, “These squirrels were equipped by foreign intelligence services, but were captured two weeks ago by the Policeâ€.

The Execution of a Teenage Girl is the most moving documentary I think I’ve ever seen. It is, as has been suggested by others, nearly impossible to watch. Once her story has been heard, it can never be forgotten.
We will never forget her.
I hope one day all the crimes of this blood thirsty regime in Iran be exposed to everyone.
This regime has no mercy or dignity and we’ll deal with the same when they are all brought to justice..
actually I am shocked with the brutality of Mullas in Iran . Goddamned Mullas should be punished by history that soon will make them upside-down. Thanks Arash for his sense of justice and love.
