Update on Amir Kabir students
Jun 26th, 2007 by City boy
Yesterday the four members who are left from the Central Committee for the AmirKabir Polytechnic University ISA activist body were doing a sit in protest for their imprisoned classmates at the university when Rouzbahani, the head of the cultural affairs, came up to them and threatened them by saying that “Your efforts are against the regime…you will not get away with this“.
The harasat forces then waited until late at night to attack the students and beat them and force them out of the university. This morning when they tried entering the university they were told that they have been banned.
Mohammad Ali Dadkhah the lawyer for the Amir Kabir students currently in jail has still not been given a chance to meet any of them, but he has announced that the family members of Ehsan Mansouri, Ahmad Ghassaban and Majid Tavakoli were allowed to visit them in Evin yesterday.
However Haddad Adel, the chairman of the Iranian parliament who has closely followed up the case of the students, has ordered the families not to give any interviews or they will be arrested immediately. There are good reasons to believe that the students have received repeated physical and psychological tortures in order to confess to false confessions about the allegations attached to them by state newspapers.
So far after over 50 days in prison, none of the students, who were all arrested by plain clothed intelligent officers, have received any court hearings or sentences. Until the students are kept in section 209 of Evin (for political prisoners) their lawyer will not be able to visit them.
On the bright side since HRW released a statement about the imprisoned students the news about their case has been publicised all over online media and Internet blogs.
