Khatami’s hand
Jun 22nd, 2007 by City boy
Former reformist President Khatami has caused great outrage in Iran between the Mullah community since a video footage of him showing him shaking hands with some woman in Italy was uploaded on to the video sharing site youtube. Physical contact with a women who is not related to a man is prohibited under Islamic Republic’s strict interpretation of Islamic law.
The condemnation of this sinful act came from all over the state media which put a lot of pressure on Khatami. However instead of coming out and apologising for his sin (!), he lied and said that the video was edited!
The community of the Holy City of Qom who have witnessed at least two earth quakes in the last few days seem less bothered with the natural disasters they have been facing, and instead they have been protesting and condemning Khatami’s shameless act which they call “political prostitution” and asked the “Special Court for Clergy” to try him and review his Mullahship as he is no longer suited to wear the “holy cloth worn by the Prophet”.

Khatami who since the end of his presidency in 2005 has taken many high positions in the government, and has acted as a “Peace Ambassador” touring the world to promote dialogue with the fascist Islamic Republic government. He lost much of his popularity since the crushing of the Tehran July 1999 student uprising during his presidency and his failure to bring about any real reform in the fundamentalist government during his 8 year reign, with a majority reformist parliament.

I don’t agree with calling this Mullah a reformist as his track record should have proven anything but that. Mullah Khatami was a tool used by the Islamic Republic to deceive people into thinking this regime is reformable, with that prolonging the life of the regime, but we all saw what those reforms included - the stoning of Iranians, attack on student dormitories and killing of several students on July 9, 1999, the closure of over a hundred newspapers, political, cultural and social oppression, support for terrorist organizations and and…
Great Cartoon. Thanks.
