62 year old women rights activist arrested

Ehteram Shadfar, an Iranian women rights activists from the One Million Signatures campaign has been arrested, just in time for the anniversary of the day of solidarity of Iranian women against the discriminatory Sharia laws of the Islamic Republic on June 12.
According to Ehteram’s daughter Maryam Taghavi, the arrest took place by plain clothed officers, a woman in full chador and a soldier who came to their house, arrested her and took her away without giving any reasons. She is currently held in Vozara Detention Center with another women rights activist who is 50 years old and was arrested the same day while collecting signatures.
The one million campaign which seeks changes in the Islamic Republic constitution for equality of genders in the eyes of law, has been continuously assaulted on by the oppressive regime who arrested up to 50 activists on the International Women’s Day on 8 March at a peaceful protest.
