Two more Amir Kabir University student activists arrested
Jun 8th, 2007 by City boy
Ali Saberi and Abbas Hakimzadeh student activists and key committee members of the politically active ISA body at Amir Kabir University in Tehran were both arrested and taken to infamous Section 209 in Evin prison on Wednesday.
The security forces searched their house and took their personal computers and CDs as evidence, while telling their family members to contact the Islamic Revolutionary Court in order get more information about their situation.
Last month both students were banned from entering the university by the order of Ali Reza Rahayi, the University’s president and close ally to Islamic Republic president Ahmadinejad who last year helped him to secure his position at the university.
The arrests were done similarly to the case of Ehsan Mansouri where the forces again went to the students house in order to arrest him, however this time the students had travelled back to their home town Mashhad as they were both excluded from the University for the term as part of the crackdown and harassment of student activists at the university.
There are currently 9 students from Amir Kabir University in the notorious Evin prison, 8 of which were arrested in the last month:
Dr. Keyvan Ansari - Alumni Association of Iran, since September 18 (2006)
Ahmad Ghassaban - Editor of Sahar, since May 3
Maghdad Khalilpur - Editor of Atiye, since May 7
Majid Tavakolli - Member of ISA, since May 9
Puyan Mahmudian - Editor of Rivar, since May 9
Majid Sheikhpur - Editor of Sar-e Khat, since May 9
Ehsan Mansouri - ISA Secretary of Political Affairs, since May 22
Ali Saberi - ISA committee member, since June 6
Abbas Hakimzadeh - ISA committee member, since June 6
Babak Zamanian who was arrested on April 21st was released on bail of 50 million Tomans (over $50,000 or around £30,000) after almost 40 days in Evin - I am not sure if they included his student discount in the price or not!
There are also atleast six student activists who are still banned from entering the university, including Arman Sadeghi and Ismail Salmanpour.

The news lately from Iran is so upsetting and heartbreaking and noone seems to care.
