Clash outside Amir Kabir University
May 19th, 2007 by City boy
This morning when Arman Sadeghi and Ismail Salmanpour, both members of the Islamic Student Association activist body at Amir Kabir University in Tehran, tried to enter the university they were attacked by the university’s security guards who were ordered to do so by the university’s president, Dr. Ali-Reza Rahayi, who came to power last year by help of Ahmadinejad.
They broke Arman’s glasses and kicked and punched Salmanpour to the ground until he went unconscious. Both students have been taken to hospital. Soon there were clashes between students and the university guards & Basijis.
Nariman Mustafavi, a committee member of the ISA, commented that this is one of the 500 violations by the university documented by the ISA which will soon be handed over to the Iranian judiciary.
Since last week, around a hundred students have been given warnings by the Disciplinary Committee, many banned from university and dormoteries. Last Wednesday Salmanpour and a number of other active students were banned from the university without being warned by the disciplinary committee, but instead by posters that had been put up around the campus.
The university with the help of Basiji “students” have identified and targetted active students and since last week have banned 11 students from entering the university.
In a country where hundreds of thousands are denied entry to universities after a very competitive national exam, Basiji revolutionary guard “students” enter the university using the allocated spaces reserved by the administration, to act as the regime’s eyes and ears on campus and are known to be guarded by the university security guards to do whatever they want, such as stabbing students in demonstrations.
Update
After being examined by a doctor, it was found that as the result of the attacks, Salmanpour has a broken nose, and also muscle strain in his right leg. Two of the university harasat officers who had brought the students to the hospital, have now escaped after hospital security called the police to report the situation!

Useful information:
————————————————————————
A kitchen should be connected to the living room to make it part of the house. The wine rack comes in the basich kitchen accessories in an American kitchen with inverted wine glasses. A well kept house must have clean kitchen steps as hygiene plays a pivotal role in one’s health. As is said,” you are what you eat”. The kitchen sink must have an effective drainage system to prevent it from blockages.

Sickening! When is this going to end? How come no one else is reporting this?
Good report, excellent blog.
Let me share with you a critical point on revolutionary change and student movement.
To bring about social-revolutionary outcomes, revolutionary situations are not enough, one factors is needed: revolutionary vanguard or hegemonic leadership. This is because people do not automatically mobilize for collective action, no matter how angry or discontent they may be.
Student movement is a decisive factor in uniting people against the regime, but as such it cannot provide people with the leadership needed to enable action among them.
So no leadership, no change.
